The SD1000 uses SD memory cards. They are priced from $10.00 to $100.00 for cards ranging from 32MB to 4 gigabytes. We invested in 2 gigabyte cards for only $15.99 at Microcenter. Do what you think, but we do not think brand matters. It may, but we dont know about it. Buy a 2 gigabyte card, and start taking pictures
The camera comes with a "Canon" brand battery pack "NB-4L".It says 3.7V 760mAh(Li-ion). What does that mean??? We have NO IDEA, and really, does it matter????? WHY? ALL WE WANT IS HOURS AND HOURS of perfect perfomance. We pushed the batteries to the limit, and although we did not "time it", it seems that the battery lasted 3-4 hours of constant use. That means, taking pictures and video, reviewing them, erasing them .. and .. and .. and .. and .. and .. for 3-4 hours straight. We are delighted. We used to NOT LIKE digital camera MAINLY because they used up batteries in minutes.
New technologly allows the camera to operate for hours. IT IS AWESOME.
We are not sure about this. We did notice that under constant use that the camera does become warm aroung the battery compartment. What does this mean?? HEAT KILLS ELECTRONICS. Heat is BAD....but if it is inevitable, then we must deal with it.
The question is ... do Canon batteries operate better than "offbrand" batteries. Canon replacement batteries cost $45.00 -$120.00 depending on the deal you can make. That is roughly 3to1. IS IT WORTH IT??? I dont know, would you tell us. We have decided to invest in another official Canon battery. We only need one extra, and if it helps the camera last longer, but by operating cooler..THEN OKEY DOKEY.
page 142 Battery can be recharged 300 times
page 138 Operates between 32degrees and 104 degrees
page 138 DO NOT CHARGE FOR LONGER THAN 24 hours
page 138 The book says to charge battery on the day you use it, VS storing it.
page 138 The book says the camera wil take 200 images per charge
page 138 The book says it will play back picturs for 4 hours
It may be different now, but is in the past, batteries lasted longer IF ... you charged the battery ALL THE WAY FULL, the first time, and THEN ... RAN IT ALL THE WAY EMPTY .. THEN recharge it after it is completely empty.
Do this the first time, and then, do it evry time. These batteries may be better, but we still operate the old way, and IT WORKS GREAT .. take care of your batteries, DO NOT LET THEM FREEZE. DO NOT LET THEM OVERHEAT.
